Weatherseal Insulation offers home energy audits throughout the state of Virginia. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, a home energy audit is a comprehensive evaluation of your home from a standpoint of health, safety and energy efficiency.
What is Included in a Home Energy Audit?
A comprehensive, “whole house” home energy audit is a full evaluation of the various components of your home — building envelope, insulation, basement and attic, mechanical systems, windows and doors, etc. During the energy audit process, we use a blower door test to measure air leakage; infrared thermal imaging to identify missing insulation and air leaks; optional duct testing to see whether your home’s duct systems could use improvement; combustion safety testing, and more. After the audit, you will receive a customized energy audit report detailing the findings of the assessment.
What are the Benefits of a Home Energy Audit?
There are many benefits to a home energy audit, although an audit itself will not make your home more energy efficient or healthy (you need to follow up on the findings of the energy audit, and actually get the work done!). That said, an energy audit is the first step on the path to many home improvements, including:
- Lower energy bills
- A more comfortable house
- Healthier indoor air quality
- Improved building durability
- Improved environmental performance
- Reduced pollution
- Reduced carbon footprint
- Fewer drafts
- Improved home resale value
